GRACE 56, CHALLIS 6

Connor Mickelson's record-breaking night lifted Grace over Challis 56-6 on Friday on the road.

Mickelson compiled a school-record six touchdowns, and had 260 yards rushing on 15 carries and 33 yards receiving on one catch. He added nine tackles, one interception and a sack on defense.

The score is an 88-point turnaround from the Grizzlies' 40-2 loss last year against the Vikings.

Grace (2-0) plays next Friday at Raft River.

MOUNTAIN HOME 21, POCATELLO 20 (OT)

Pocatello lost 21-20 in overtime at Mountain Home on Friday.

The Indians missed a field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter. In overtime, Pocatello threw an interception on a game-deciding two-point conversation.

Pocatello (1-1) faces Century next Friday at Holt Arena.

STAR VALLEY (WY) 28, BLACKFOOT 14

Blackfoot couldn't overcome early knockout blows in a 28-14 home loss Friday against Star Valley (Wyoming).

In a devastating play, the Broncos gave up a pick-six, lost starting quarterback Craig Young to a shoulder injury and fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter.

“We just gave up big plays at the wrong time and we struggled a little bit offensively without Craig in the game,” Blackfoot coach Stan Buck said. “Little bit too one-dimensional at times with the offense, so it was a little bit easier to defend us.”

Blackfoot (1-1) hosts Bonneville next Friday.

PRESTON 24, JEROME 14

Preston picked up its first win of the season Friday, defeating Jerome 24-14 at home.

The Indians scored 24 of the last 31 points of the game after being down 7-0 to start the matchup.

“We had a couple things that went wrong, but they kept fighting,” Preston coach Eric Thorson said. “It's a good springboard into the next game.”

Andrew Iverson compiled 134 yards rushing on 22 carries to lead Preston (1-1), which plays next Friday at Canyon Ridge.

KIMBERLY 28, AMERICAN FALLS 14

American Falls let a 14-0 halftime lead slip away in a 28-14 home loss to Kimberly.

The Beavers' potential game-tying drive near the end of the game ended about 10 yards short after their reverse was snuffed out by a shoe-string tackle.

“We lost, but we played pretty well,” American Falls coach Cory Hollingsworth said.

American Falls (0-2) plays next Friday at Filer.

MARSH VALLEY 34, FILER 6

Marsh Valley won handily, 34-6, at Filer on Friday after jumping ahead 20-0 in the first quarter.

“We had a lot of mistakes and they had a lot of mistakes,” Marsh Valley coach Doug Armstrong said. “We took care of the game as far as the score, but still have stuff to work on early in the season.”

Michael Belnap and Corwin Belnap offered a one-two punch, rushing for 112 and 100 yards, respectively, for Marsh Valley (2-0), which hosts West Side next Friday.

SNAKE RIVER 7, WEST SIDE 6

Snake River held off West Side in a 7-6 home win Friday.

Both teams scored their touchdowns in the second quarter, and a missed PAT ended up being the difference.

The Panthers' Ty Belnap ended the game with a sack around Snake River's 25-yard line.

“West Side was able to match our physicality,” Panthers coach Jeb Harrison said. "They're a tough team. Hats off to them.”

Harrison pointed out that his team only had two first-quarter drives against the possession-controlling Pirates and that his Panthers had 12 penalties for 140 yards.

Snake River (2-0) hosts Firth next Friday. West Side (1-1) plays next Friday at Marsh Valley.

DECLO 21, ABERDEEN 6

Aberdeen was stifled in a 21-6 loss at Declo on Friday.

Payton Foster scored the Tigers' lone TD on a run.

“We just got beat up front tonight,” Aberdeen coach Jeff Duffin said. “I'm just really perplexed.”

Aberdeen (1-1) plays next Friday at North Fremont.

BEAR LAKE 13, JACKSON HOLE (WY) 7

Bear Lake left Jackson Hole (Wyoming) with a 13-7 win Friday.

No other information was available.

The Bears play next Friday at South Fremont.

RIRIE 28, MALAD 12

Malad lost 28-12 at Ririe on Friday.

At halftime, the Dragons were down 7-6 after making a goal-line stand to end the second quarter. But Malad lost momentum after two three-and-outs to start the second half.

“It was a battle,” Dragons coach Kory Kay said. “It was kind of back and forth. We had a hard time stopping their run (game).”

Malad (0-2) plays next Friday at Wendell.

NORTH GEM 34, MURTAUGH 22

North Gem came back from 14-0 down to beat Murtaugh 34-22 on Friday at home.

Austin Lloyd gave the Cowboys their first lead of the game, 28-22, in the third quarter on a 21-yard run.

“Our line really took over and controlled their line,” North Gem coach Dana Strong said. “It was a good victory for us.”

Lloyd was the leading rusher with 71 yards on 12 carries. Cowboys quarterback Michael Barfuss completed 7 of 13 passes for 130 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

North Gem (1-1) plays next Friday at Challis.

ROCKLAND 58, SHO-BAN 14

Rockland was ahead 44-8 by halftime in Friday's 58-14 win at Sho-Ban on Friday.

“The boys played really well both offensively and defensively,” Bulldogs coach Gerry Hunter said. “It's fun to see that (Sho-Ban has) a team, and my hat's off to Sho-Ban for playing this year.”

Rockland hosts Shoshone next Friday, while Sho-Ban (0-2) plays next Friday at Owyhee (Nevada).
