Snake River won the 3A District 5 tournament championship at home Tuesday, beating American Falls 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.
Olivia Kracl had 11 kills and four blocks, Tatum Cherry added 11 assists and six aces, and Shayden Garza and Jada Ward chipped in 10 digs apiece.
“I’m just proud of the girls for coming out and playing hard,” Panthers coach Shaunee Martin said. “We’ve played good ball the last two times that we’ve played.”
Up next for Snake River is the 3A state tournament. The Panthers play the District 1 champion in the first round Nov. 1, at either Coeur d’Alene, Lake City or Post Falls.
American Falls topped Marsh Valley earlier Tuesday in a loser-out match, 25-18, 25-10 25-14. Emma Barclay led the offense with 11 kills, while Zoie Grigg and Paige Adair each served four aces.
The Beavers must win two play-in games to reach the 3A state tournament. Up first is the second-place team from District 6 on Thursday in Shelley.
“This is just so amazing for my girls to have a season like this,” A.F. coach Jami Adair said. “They have grown so much throughout the season and I think they’re just starting to believe that they can do it. We’re going to have to be super scrappy, we’re going to have to focus on being mentally tough. That’s what we struggled with against Snake River.”
GRACE 3, BUTTE COUNTY 0
Grace won the 1A DI District 5-6 championship Tuesday, beating Butte County at Blackfoot High School.
The Grizzlies won by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.
Kylee Painter led the way with a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs. Maniah Clegg added 10 kills and eight blocks.
Grace (14-7) plays the third-place team from District 3 in first round of the state tournament Nov. 1 at Lapwai High School.
THUNDER RIDGE 3, HIGHLAND 0
HIGHLAND 3, RIGBY 2
Highland is still a live in the 5A District 5-6 tournament after beating Rigby 3-2 in Tuesday night’s loser-out match. The Rams opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Thunder Ridge.
Highland plays another loser-out match Thursday against Thunder Ridge. The winner advances to the district championship round.
BURLEY 3, PRESTON 0
Preston’s season ended with a 3-0 loss Tuesday at Burley in the 4A District 4-5 tournament, 16-25, 15-25, 14-25.
Burley hosts Pocatello on Thursday in another loser-out game.
SHELLEY 3, BLACKFOOT 2
Blackfoot fell to Shelley in the first round of the 4A District 6 tournament Thursday at Bonneville High School.
Blackfoot plays Idaho Falls on Wednesday in a loser-out match.
