BOYS SOCCER

MOUNTAIN HOME 4, POCATELLO 0

Pocatello’s season ended Monday with a 4-0 road loss to Mountain Home in a 4A District 4-5 tournament play-in game.

“We didn’t even get off the bus until the beginning of the second half, and by then it was too late,” Pocatello coach George Asboe said. “We were young this year, but we’re only going to have two seniors next year. We have probably the best young core we’ve had in memory. If we can convince them that being competitive and hard-hitting is a must in this league, then we’ll get somewhere.”

Pocatello finished the season 1-14.

BLACKFOOT 4, SHELLEY 0

Blackfoot upended Shelley 4-0 on senior day Monday.

Ivan Zamora and Logan Hanson each scored once, while Frankie Garcia added two goals.

“We’re moving the ball quickly. We’re passing well and I’m liking that,” Blackfoot coach Liam Pope said. “We’re starting to create more chances. We took them tonight.”

Blackfoot (6-7, 6-4 4A District 6) is the No. 3 seed for the district tournament and hosts Bonneville in Wednesday’s first round.

GIRLS SOCCER

SHELLEY 5, BLACKFOOT 2

Blackfoot started slow on the road and lost 5-2 to Shelley on the road Monday.

Kennedy Ross and Dessi Sanchez scored for the Broncos.

"We started out a little slow,” Blackfoot coach Ramon Sanchez said. “The other team, it was their senior night, and they were super pumped. They showed up to play with a little more enthusiasm than we did.”

Blackfoot (1-13, 1-9 4A District 6) starts district tournament play on Thursday.
