The Idaho Falls Bandits defeated the Lewis-Clark Twins 5-0 to win the Double-A Legion state championship Tuesday at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston.

The Bandits scored twice in the second inning and three times in the fifth, giving pitcher Randon Hostert some cushion. The University of Utah signee spun a complete game, giving up two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Seven of the Bandits’ nine starters tallied a hit. Willie Nelson led the charge with a triple and three RBIs.

The state title is the Bandits’ first since 2013. They outscored opponents 28-9 during five games at state.

Next up for the Bandits (51-5-1) is the Northwest Regional tournament, held Aug. 7-11 at Lewis-Clark State College. Their first game is Aug. 7 against the Wyoming state champion. The Lewis-Clark Twins also qualified for regionals as the host team.
