Kyler Manu (Highland High) — University of Washington
Former Highland standout Kyler Manu made his first-career start for the University of Washington football team in its 47-14 home win Saturday against Eastern Washington.
Manu recorded a career-high seven tackles — all solo — in the game to finish as the team’s second-leading tackler. The redshirt senior entered the game with 12 tackles in his UW career.
The Huskies (1-0) host California on Saturday.
Tommy Togiai (Highland High) — The Ohio State University
Highland alumnus Tommy Togiai notched two tackles — including one tackle for loss — in Ohio State’s 45-21 home win Saturday against Florida Atlantic.
Togiai was part of a defensive effort that held FAU to 22 yards rushing and 228 yards of offense. The sophomore was listed as the team’s No. 2 nose tackle on the Week 1 depth chart.
Ohio State (1-0) hosts Cincinnati on Saturday.
Tristen Hoge (Highland High) — Brigham Young University
Former Highland Ram Tristen Hoge made his 14th consecutive start on BYU’s offensive line Thursday in the team’s 30-12 home loss to Utah. The redshirt junior is listed as the Cougars’ starting right guard.
Hoge and the Cougars’ offensive line held up against Utah’s vaunted defensive front, allowing one sack.
BYU (0-1) plays Saturday at Tennessee.
