Snake River wrestling is in contention for a state tournament trophy — or more — every season.

The program continued to perform at the top tier of 3A Idaho wrestling during the 2018-19 season. The Panthers crowned two state champions and had five state finalists at February’s state championship tournament.

Snake River also took home team hardware. The team’s second-place finish is its highest since winning state in 2016, and extends Snake River’s run of consecutive years with a top-four state finish to nine (2011).

For his team’s successes this season, Snake River’s Jeff Gardner is the Journal’s 2018-19 All-Area Wrestling Coach of the Year.
