Throughout the NFL season, we’ll check in with former Idaho State football players and other notable locals currently in the NFL. Here’s an update after Week 6 of the regular season.

Taysom Hill (Highland HS) — BYU, New Orleans Saints

Taysom Hill continued to figure in the Saints’ offense as New Orleans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 13-6 on Sunday.

The Pocatello native and Highland alumnus ran for 17 yards on three carries to help the Saints to their fourth-straight win. Hill played 11 snaps in total.

The Saints (5-1) play Sunday at Chicago.

Josh Hill — Idaho State (2009-12), New Orleans Saints

Former Idaho State tight end Josh Hill had one catch for 8 yards Sunday in New Orleans’ 13-6 win over Jacksonville.

The Blackfoot High School alumnus was targeted twice and played 41 total snaps, tied for his second-highest total of the season.

The Saints (5-1) play Sunday at Chicago.

Dirk Koetter — Idaho State (1977, 79-81), Atlanta Falcons

Another week and another loss for Atlanta, which lost 34-33 to the Arizona Cardinals despite Koetter’s offense keying a second-half comeback.

Down 20-10 at halftime, Atlanta rallied back to potentially tie the game with under two minutes left, but kicker Matt Bryant missed the extra point after Devonta Freeman’s touchdown, dooming the Falcons to a fourth-straight loss.

Matt Ryan threw for 356 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions for Atlanta. Koetter, a former Idaho State player, is the Falcons’ offensive coordinator.

Atlanta (1-5) hosts the St. Louis Rams next Sunday.
