BOYS SOCCER

CENTURY 5, POCATELLO 0

The Century boys turned it on in the second half against Pocatello, scoring all five of their goals after halftime for a blowout win at Century.

Aidan Hofeldt scored twice for the Diamondbacks, and Luke Esplin, Brayden Stouse and Shaun Abassi each added one.

“Overall I thought the kids played pretty well,” Century coach Rocky Rhoads said. “In the first half, (Pocatello) came out and pressed and created some problems with their workrate. In the second half, we were a little wasteful in front in front of net. We probably should have hung eight or nine on them.”

Century plays at Jerome on Wednesday. Pocatello hosts Wood River.

PRESTON 5, MINICO 1

A Kadin Reese hat trick led Preston to a comfortable 5-1 home win over Minico.

Daxton Golightly opened the scoring for the Indians in the first minute before Reese scored his first to give Preston a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Reese completed his hat trick in the second half and also added an assist on a free kick for Ramon Rodriguez’s goal.

Preston (3-1-1) plays Wednesday at Canyon Ridge.

Blackfoot was frustrated on the road, struggling to score and falling 4-0 at Idaho Falls.

“We played some good soccer, but we’ve got to find ways to score goals against good teams,” Blackfoot coach Liam Pope said. “We’re not turning some of our tidy posession into good chances, and we’ve got to find a way to do that, sooner rather than later.”

Blackfoot (2-3, 2-1 4A District 6) hosts Hillcrest on Wednesday.
