Bear Lake was eliminated from the 2A football state playoffs Friday with a 36-20 loss on the road at Melba in the quarterfinals.

Melba was seeded fourth and Bear Lake fifth going into the game.

Melba's Easton Bunnell ran for 258 yards and four touchdowns, helping the Mustangs score more points against Bear Lake than any other team this season.

The Bears finish their season at 7-3.

Prior to the game Friday, Bear Lake coach Ryan Messerly and quarterback Owen Teuscher were named 2A District 5 Coach and Player of the Year, respectively.

Melba (8-2) will travel to West Side next week in the state semifinals.
