Three people were transported to Logan Regional Hospital after the deck on a North Logan home collapsed recently during a large party.

According to North Logan Fire Chief Jon Keller, about 90 people between the ages of 18-22 were at the home located on Camelot Drive in North Logan, with as many as half of them out on the deck.

The wraparound deck was reportedly constructed with a combination of wood and Trex decking material. It was approximately 20 feet by 40 feet and about 10 feet off the ground, Battalion Chief Tighe Corbridge said.

Veronica Robinson said she was part of the group playing games on the deck when it started going down in what seemed like slow motion. It was scary, but she was more scared for others around her, she said.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, Corbridge said the scene on the cul-de-sac was just chaos.

“There were people out in the street, there were people screaming,” he said.

In addition to the three people transported to the hospital for evaluation, there were many more with bruises, cuts and abrasions.

Keller said it appeared the wood on the deck was rotting and the structure was unable to support the weight of so many people.
