CHUBBUCK — Chubbuck police recently arrested two Pocatello residents on drug-related charges following separate welfare checks.
Brittanie S. Anderton, 24, has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, according to Bannock County Magistrate Court records. Joseph D. Elmore, 36, has also been charged with a felony for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for using drug paraphernalia or possessing it with the intent to use it.
The incident involving Anderton occurred at Alpine Dental on the 4100 block of Yellowstone on Nov. 26.
Police say they responded to the dental office for a welfare check on Anderton, a patient who appeared to be impaired. Staff members were concerned that she might try to drive.
Police said they could see drug paraphernalia in one of Anderton’s pockets, which led to the discovery of additional items, including a a straw containing methamphetamine residue. They subsequently took her into custody.
The incident involving Elmore occurred in the Walmart parking lot on the 4200 block of Yellowstone on Nov. 30.
Police say they were asked to check on Elmore, who was in a vehicle and appeared to have passed out or fallen asleep. He had reportedly been there for a while.
Police said they initially had trouble waking Elmore up, but he did eventually respond.
They ended up arresting Elmore, who was wanted on two warrants. Police said they also found needles containing meth, which led to the drug charges.
