PAYSON, Utah (AP) — Utah authorities say a woman was fatally injured when struck by a bullet that first killed a man apparently taking his own life by shooting himself in the head.
The Utah County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that investigators believe the couple were arguing early Saturday morning when the man shot himself while in a vehicle and the round then apparently "left the vehicle and struck the woman in the neck."
According to the Sheriff's Office, the man was seated inside the vehicle while the woman was outside talking to him at a campground in a canyon near Payson.
No identities were released and the sheriff's office said the incident remains under investigation.
Payson is 50 miles south of Salt Lake City.
