Police respond late Friday afternoon to Bannock Peak Casino and Truck Stop off Interstate 86 between Pocatello and American Falls after an unusual smell was reported there.

FORT HALL - The Bannock Peak Casino and Truck Stop reopened for normal business hours on Saturday, Aug. 17.

The Bannock Peak C-Store was not immediately affected by the situation that occurred at the Bannock Peak Casino last Friday, but did close early as a safety precaution for the public and their employees.

Casino Management is continuing to reconstruct the septic system which may have been a contributing factor to the odors reported on Friday afternoon. The Casino Management Team is diligently working on opening the doors to the Casino by the end of this week.

Fort Hall Fire Chief Eric King states, “All precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of guests, employees and the community. The Emergency Operation Center (EOC) was activated as standard protocol to any potential hazards.”

Employees who were on site at the time of the incident were evaluated and released from the Portneuf Medical Center with no confirmed illnesses as a result of any potential exposure.

“I am extremely pleased with the steps that were taken by all agencies that responded to the Bannock Peak Casino and Truck Stop on Friday," stated Pamela Gallegos, Chief Executive Officer.

Updates to the Casino opening and hours will be posted on the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel’s Facebook page.
