Winds of over 40 mph coupled with low humidity are forecast to create explosive wildfire conditions in East Idaho Sunday afternoon through Sunday night.

In response the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning — the most severe wildfire threat level — for the region.

The weather service said Sunday's high winds and low humidity will cause any wildfire that does ignite to grow very rapidly in terms of size and intensity.

The public is being strongly encouraged to avoid any behavior that could cause a wildfire to ignite and to report wildfires immediately by dialing 911.

Red flag warnings are also in effect for Sunday afternoon and evening in south central Idaho, including the Twin Falls area, and in northeast Nevada as well as in much of Utah and Wyoming.
