SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested after police say he entered a pizza parlor wrapped in a white garbage bag and attempted to rob the business early Monday morning.
Curtis Samuel Sims, 36, of Salt Lake City, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.
Salt Lake police responded to a report of a robbery at Big Daddy's Pizza, located at 470 S. 700 East, shortly before 1:45 a.m. Sims entered the business wrapped in a garbage bag, approached an employee at the cash register “and made a comment about money,” according to a jail report.
Sims then produced a metal pipe and struck another employee in the hand. Curtis also struck an additional employee in the head and arm before he was chased out of the building by the employees, the report stated. He was then taken into custody by officers in the parking lot of 400 South and 700 East.
Court records show Sims has a history of mostly traffic-related offenses in Utah. He was arrested and charged with assault in 2017 but the charges in that case were later dropped.
