Police say a 21-year-old Logan man violently raped one young woman, and since his arrest Monday at least three more have come forward with similar allegations.
Wyatt Dean Martin was booked into the Cache County Jail and has been charged in 1st District Court with aggravated kidnapping, rape, forcible sex abuse, obstruction of justice, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a firearm.
According to a probable cause statement filed in the court, Martin met the alleged victim on Tinder, and after they had been communicating via Snapchat for a short time, he invited her to his home for a party.
She told police she was “heavily pressured” into drinking a shot of whiskey, as well as another drink that he reportedly said was sweet tea. He later told her it contained alcohol.
Martin allegedly took her to his room soon after, where he aggressively pushed her onto his bed and raped her. Police say she fought back until he retrieved a strap with what she thought was hooks and threatened to tie her down.
The alleged victim went to a local hospital for a rape exam, and hospital officials reported the sexual assault to police.
During the investigation, Martin told police he had thrown some of the evidence into the trash. Police later served a search warrant on his residence, where they say they retrieved evidence relating to the rape, drugs and firearms.
News of Martin’s arrest spread quickly, and local law enforcement agencies have received three more reports and believe there could still be more victims who have not come forward yet.
Anyone with more knowledge about Martin or any sexual assaults is encouraged to contact Sgt. Louise Speth at the Logan Police Department by calling (435)716-9491.
