Hundreds of Idaho Power customers are without electricity due to two late Monday night outages.
The outages hit Pocatello's east side where over 1,000 Idaho Power customers are without power as well as the area between Blackfoot and Firth where over 150 Idaho Power customers are currently without electricity.
Idaho Power said that it expects to have electricity restored to everyone by 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The outages occurred between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday.
Idaho Power has not said what caused the outages, but Southeast Idaho is currently being hit by winds of up to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service issued a special weather alert around 9 p.m. Monday warning the public about the powerful gusts that are currently pounding Southeast Idaho and are expected to continue until early Tuesday morning.
The weather service said the winds are strong enough to make driving a vehicle difficult, especially on the region's interstates.
