AMERICAN FALLS — The right lane of eastbound Interstate 86 at milepost 22 was blocked Wednesday morning after a semi-tanker hauling molasses tipped over, according to the Power County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office responded to the crash at 5:22 a.m., finding the driver of the truck trapped inside. The driver was freed and taken to a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to a press release.
The right lane of traffic remained closed as of 11 a.m. Sheriff’s officials said molasses spilled on the roadway, and they advised motorists to drive past the scene with caution, as the spilled molasses may attract wildlife.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
