POCATELLO — KC’s Gate City Boxing Club is hosting KC’s Gate City Invitational amateur boxing event starting at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Bannock County Veterans Memorial building in Pocatello.

The event will feature 18 boxing matches between boxers from across Idaho, Utah and Wyoming, with trophies at stake for competitors. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to support KC’s Gate City Boxing Club in Pocatello.

This invitational is particularly important to the family of Robbie Chavez, who owned the club for several years until he died in August 2020. Chavez’s family bought half of the trophies, which total $900, for the event.

K.C. McCreery, new owner of the nonprofit boxing club, said he expects about 200 to 300 people to come to the event on Saturday and he hopes to have as many people there as possible. General admission tickets cost $13.
