One person died and a juvenile was hurt on Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near McCammon, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.
The accident happened at 4:06 p.m. when 41-year-old Qing Ye of Shanghai, China, was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry south on I-15, state police report.
Ye went off the left shoulder, overcorrected, and went across both lanes of travel and onto the right shoulder. Then the vehicle hit some rocks and rolled, coming to rest on its side.
One passenger in the back seat of the vehicle, 71-year-old Juming Ye of Shanghai, was ejected during the rollover and died of his injuries at the scene.
Qing Ye and a front-seat passenger, 48-year-old Wei Gao of Shanghai, were wearing seat belts. Juming Ye and a juvenile passenger were not wearing seat belts.
The juvenile passenger was taken by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. The juvenile was listed in non life-threatening stable condition on Tuesday afternoon.
The right lane of I-15 was blocked for about two and a half hours while emergency personnel cleared the scene.
Next of kin has been notified.
