Golden Nugget CBD Oil

The recently opened Golden Nugget CBD Oil kiosk stands at the Boise Towne Square. The kiosk is closing soon, but the owners plan to open a storefront in Meridian this month, offering CBD oil products.

After a busy week and a half in the Boise Towne Square, Golden Nugget CBD — Idaho’s first standalone CBD store — is set to move out of its mall kiosk and into a central Meridian property.

The company still aims to hold its grand opening June 15, said Jennifer Long, one of its owners. She and her colleagues will host it at their brick-and-mortar location, 1330 E. Fairview Ave. in Meridian. The location offers almost 1,500 square feet, Long said, and includes more space for CBD-infused products — for example, hemp energy drinks will be available at the Meridian location.

Long and her husband, Justin Long, opened a marijuana dispensary in January 2017 in Sumpter, Oregon. After that, they started selling CBD oil — a substance extracted from cannabis plants such as marijuana and hemp. The oil has medical benefits, and customers have used it to treat inflammation for arthritis, as well as symptoms of anxiety. In other states, some CBD products contain small amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Any substance containing any amount of the chemical is illegal in Idaho, so all of Golden Nugget’s Idaho merchandise is THC-free, Jennifer Long said.

To keep up with demand, Long said the company is planning to open other locations aside from the Meridian store, although those locations aren’t yet certain. The plan was to have a location in Boise.

“Our second store will likely be near the mall,” she said.

She said the company might also consider a location in Nampa
