The Pocatello Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a local man accused of injuring his child again after having been convicted of the same crime in 2019.

Pocatello Police say an arrest warrant was recently issued for Brock Elquezabal, 28, of Pocatello, in connection to an incident in which he’s accused of injuring his child.

Elquezabal is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds. Elquezabal has the word “River” tattooed on the left side of his neck.

Anyone with information regarding Elquezabal’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Pocatello Police Detective Division at 208-234-2121 and reference report number 22-P09750.

Elquezabal pleaded guilty in June 2019 to one felony count of injury to a child in connection to an incident in which he broke his 5-week-old son’s leg, the Idaho State Journal reported in 2019.

During the sentencing hearing for that charge in July 2019, 6th District Judge Stephen Dunn said his job as a judge was nothing in comparison to his role as a father and grandfather, and told Elquezabal that he would surely serve prison time if convicted of a subsequent felony injury to a child charge.

“This cannot happen again, do you hear me?” Dunn asked of Elquezabal. “This cannot happen again because if it does, you’re going to prison. I am not going to tolerate child abuse, I just won’t do it.”

Dunn sentenced Elquezabal to just 30 days in jail and placed him on felony probation for five years.

Exact details on the circumstances surrounding the most recent felony injury to a child charge filed against Elquezabal were not immediately available Wednesday, though Pocatello police say the charge was filed after Elquezabal’s son was treated at a local hospital late last month.
