FRANKLIN COUNTY — An illegal immigrant charged with trafficking in heroin was sentenced to 10 years in prison last month.
Andres Avila, 34, pleaded guilty to trafficking in heroin in September.
Franklin County Prosecutor Vic Pearson said Andres Avila was arrested April 8 following a traffic stop by Idaho State Police. During that investigation, police found 201 grams of heroin with a street value of about $60,000.
Avila was also fined $15,000 plus court costs and ordered to pay $3,393 in restitution.
Avila will be deported after he serves his prison sentence in Idaho.
