The Gate City Grays were swept in Saturday’s doubleheader at Northern Utah League rival Providence, losing 11-8 and 5-0.

In the 11-8 loss to open the night, Gate City fell behind 3-0 early, but rallied to tie the score in the third inning. Providence (11-5, 11-5 NUL) then broke a 5-5 deadlock with six runs in the sixth. The Grays plated three runs in the seventh, but couldn’t complete the late comeback.

In the 5-0 nightcap, the Grays were held to five hits and stranded eight runners on base.

Payton Higgins led the offense in the opener, going 3 for 4 with three runs. Geo Sebena added a solo home run. Hayden Foltz went 3 for 3 with a double in the nightcap.

The Grays (10-10, 8-7 NUL) play Monday and Tuesday at the Idaho Cubs. Their next home game is a doubleheader Saturday against Logan.
