BLACKFOOT — The case against a woman accused of embezzling more than $11,800 from Independence High School in Blackfoot was continued Thursday.
Danielle Pearson, 36, is charged with one count of theft by embezzlement and five counts of forgery — all felony charges.
Pearson is being represented by Blackfoot Attorney Steve Blaser who asked for additional time in the case.
A preliminary hearing in the case was rescheduled for Sept. 24.
Bingham County Prosecutor Cleve Colson said Pearson is accused of taking the money between June 2014 and May 2015.
Colson said school officials became suspicious and then conducted an audit of the high school.
If convicted of the charges against her, Pearson is facing a maximum sentence of a possible 14-year prison term and a $50,000 fine for each count against her.
