A Boise man was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend.
David Randall, 60, must spend 25 years in prison before being eligible for parole, according to a news release from the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office. He was arrested in December 2019 for killing 56-year-old Darla Fletcher, formerly of Pocatello, and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in December 2021.
“The defendant presents grave danger to the community,” Judge Steven Hippler during Friday’s sentencing, noting that Randall’s lack of remorse for the murder was striking.
Randall attacked, tortured, stabbed and beat Fletcher to death, the release said. Randall and Fletcher had recently ended their relationship when the attack happened.
“I extend my deepest condolences to Ms. Fletchers’ family and friends,” Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts said. “This brutal domestic homicide has weighed on the victim’s family and friends, our office, and the community for over three years now.”
