POCATELLO — The annual conference of NAMI Idaho will be Sept. 22 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 300 Johnson Ave. in Pocatello, starting at 8 a.m. with the election of Idaho NAMI board members.

Check in will be at 8:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 9 a.m.

The annual conferences bring together individuals living with mental illness, family members, professionals and those of the general public wanting to learn more about mental illness.

The conference speakers will not only provide the status of a number of programs and services but will also highlight the latest progress in the mental health field. The conference is also a great time for the exchange information with individuals from other regions of the state. The topics for this year’s conference include:

  • Therapeutic recreation
  • Psychiatrist role in behavioral health
  • Grief
  • Juvenile justice
  • Trauma treatment for vets
  • Youth Empowerment Services (YES)
  • Blame and creating a “toolbox”
