POCATELLO — “The Solarize Pocatello program is very successful; we set a minimum goal of 20 solar installations and at this point, 42 homeowners have signed contracts”, says Mike Engle, director of Solarize Pocatello. “That adds up to more than 300 kilowatts total capacity of solar installed in the region. I expect we will exceed 50 installations by the end of the program.”
Solarize Pocatello, sponsored by the non-profit Portneuf Resource Council, vetted eight different regional solar installers and chose Intermountain Wind and Solar for offering the best group discount coupled with outstanding customer service and highest panel quality.
According to Engle, “The objective of the Portneuf Resource Council is to promote clean energy and increase the number of solar energy installations in Southeast Idaho. The community has been very open to learning about solar. Our volunteer-run program is making a big difference in the adoption of clean, renewable solar energy.”
“I’ll just tell you why I’m doing solar,” said happy Solarize customer, Dr. Ed DeSano, “My main concern is the heating of the planet. I’m old enough that I probably won’t see most of it but we want to do our part for our children and our grandchildren. My wife feels the same.”
Homeowners who would like to take advantage of the Intermountain Wind and Solar discounted price point can sign up any time before July 31 for a free no-obligation assessment at www.solarizepocatello.com.
Once a quote is received, homeowners have until the end of September to sign their contract. As the price of electricity continues to rise, purchasing a solar system now locks down your energy cost. In addition, 2019 is the last year for the 30 percent tax credit; this is a great time to consider solar.
The last Solarize Pocatello workshop will be held on July 18 at 7 p.m. inside the Southeast Idaho Council of Governments Building (formerly Idaho Power) at 214 E. Center St., Pocatello. It will be an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, meet the installers and sign-up for the no cost, no-obligation solar site assessment for your property.
