POCATELLO — The Idaho State University TRIO Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science summer banquet is set from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 19 in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.

These six-week summer programs serve students who are potential first-generation college students and meet low-income criteria. In these programs, students strive to learn new things and to enhance their communication skills with friends. These programs have been a valuable experience for many high school students, helping them to develop academic and social skills.

Participating in these programs helps students develop the skills necessary to be successful in education beyond high school. Many participants have are active in these programs for three years and are given college opportunities such as campus tours and enrollment in ISU’s Bengal Bridge program.

In addition, these programs offer fun team activities, free time and field trips. The programs also provide housing and meals on campus.
