POCATELLO — The Pocatello Chapter of Idaho Writer’s League will hold its final meeting of the season at 5 p.m. on June 19 at the Portneuf District Library, 5210 Stuart Ave. in Pocatello. This month the meeting will be by the fireplace in the southeast corner of the main room. Then, after a summer hiatus, monthly meetings will resume on Sept. 18 — same time, same place.

Anyone interested in improving their writing skills is always welcome to attend IWL meetings for a limited number of times before being required to pay dues. Bring writing materials and, if desired, a sample of your work to share.

On June 19, members will be sharing stories, articles, memoirs, poetry, etc., as well as book excerpts they have prepared for the annual IWL contests, which close July 1.

This opportunity to compete and have your writing critiqued by a qualified writing judge who provides comments is one of the benefits of membership in this statewide organization. There are 21 possible categories in which a member may enter, and there are cash prizes for the winners.
