E. George Jensen and Delila Myrle Higbee Jensen will celebrate 70 years of marriage Saturday August 11, 2018 with their family.
The Jensen were high school sweethearts. After dating for two years they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1947. They are the proud parents of four sons, David of Boise, Kenneth (Vicki) of Twin Falls, James (Geneta) of Pocatello and Michael (Dena) of Blackfoot
They have 15 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and 9 step great-grandchildren.
George graduated from Teton High School at Driggs, Idaho in 1947. He met Delila Myrle in high school. After their marriage they moved to Pocatello.
George worked at Kraft Foods Inc. for three years and then for Pacific Fruit and Produce as a driver/ salesman for twelve and one half years. In 1964 they moved to American Falls where he worked for Cardinal Food Market as Produce Manager. In 1967 he was appointed Manager of the Cardinal Market in Aberdeen.
In 1972 they moved back to Pocatello where he accepted a position as Produce Manage for Smiths Food King. During his 23 years with Smiths he received many outstanding service awards.
Delila Myrle graduated from Teton High School in 1949. For the first 16 years of their marriage her career consisted of being a wife and mother to her four sons, trying to keep up with five men in her life which was not an easy task, but was an enjoyable one, she says.
She has held many positions in the LDS Church. After moving to American Falls, Delila began her working career out of the home. She has spent eight years in the medical field and 24 years in banking. Her first banking position was with Idaho Bank and Trust in American Falls. After moving back to Pocatello, she went to work for Valley Bank where she worked for 10 years. She held positions of loan officer, assistant manager, and performed various other duties. In 1986 she went to work for Idaho First National Bank as a personal banking associate. After nine years of service she retired from US Bank in 1995.
She has attended many business seminars and has completed extensive financial courses from the American Institute of banking and the Northwest Intermediate Banking School. She has served and held leadership positions for various community groups and business organizations and received numerous outstanding service awards from employers, the community and business organizations.
The Jensen’s have enjoyed snow and waterskiing, motorcycle riding, golfing, camping and fishing with their friends and family. They also enjoyed and taught square dancing. They have traveled with their family to Hawaii and Cancun Mexico. For ten years they enjoyed going to Arizona in the winter and Star Valley in the summer.
They are now enjoying their retirement doing the things they love to do, especially activities with their family and friends.
