A new fast-charging electric vehicle station is now open at the Boise Walmart at 8300 W. Overland Road.

BOISE — A new fast-charging station for electric vehicles is now online in Boise, adding to the growing number of charging stations across the state.

The station, installed by Electrify America and powered by Idaho Power, is at the Walmart at 8300 W. Overland Road. It can deliver energy for up to 20 miles of range per minute of charge at 350 kW and is the latest in charging technology, according to Idaho Power.

The station’s has a range of power options, starting at 50 kW. With four chargers, the station can charge multiple vehicles at once.

“With the completion of the Boise station, (electric vehicle) drivers can more easily travel from Boise to Portland or Boise to Salt Lake,” Beth Baird of the Treasure Valley Clean Cities coalition said in a press release.

The Idaho Office of Energy and Mineral Resources is identifying more sites for more fast-charging stations. Find an existing station at idahopower.chooseev.com/chargers.
