This week in Old Town

n The Oldies Rod & Custom Car Show will return to Main Street on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the event benefit the Senior Activity Center. Vehicle registration is now open and has been extended. If you have not registered to show off your vehicle on Main Street, please register before Friday. Visit www.oldtownpocatello.com for registration information. This year, the pancake breakfast will run from 8 to 11 a.m. The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market will open at 9 a.m. The trophy presentation will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the raffle drawing. The raffle prize this year is a 2002 Cadillac Deville, four-door. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and are available at the Senior Activity Center. You do not need to be present to win. Register your vehicle and purchase your raffle tickets today.

n Jim Dandy Brewing will host “Pint Night” Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. Ten percent of the proceeds from the evening will benefit Casting for Recovery. This nonprofit organization provides outdoor healing retreats for women battling breast cancer. The evening will include great beer, a raffle and your opportunity to help support this wonderful organization.

n The Old Town Alley: a Pocatello Urban Art Exhibit is coming to Old Town Pocatello. Art Haus and Cottonwood Junction are excited to announce their first Outdoor Urban Art Exhibit to premiere Aug. 19 and run officially through the First Friday Art Walk on Sept. 6. A call for artists has been issued to paint individual or group murals for the exhibit. The theme is Pocatello — A Reason to Smile. Limited spaces are available and painting will commence August 10-18. This event is sure to garner a lot of attention and donations from the project will benefit Relight the Night. n It’s going to be another beautiful Revive@5 evening on Wednesday. Plan to join us for live music, great food, cold drinks, family fun and, of course, great company. This week’s sponsor is the Gate City Grays. The band for the evening will be Anaconda. Food for the evening will be by The Office Bar. Admission is free. Music starts at 5 p.m. The Wednesday Farmers Market will be open, too. n Old Town Pocatello is the place to be on Friday as we host the June First Friday Art Walk. The evening will feature art, music, food, fashion and more in more than 20 downtown shops and restaurants beginning at 5 p.m. Admission to the event is free. Parking is free, too. The event guide listing each location, the featured artists and additional attractions will be published on the Old Town website, www.oldtownpocatello.com on Thursday morning.

n The First National Bar, 234 W. Center, will host a Revive@5 After Party on Wednesday beginning at 8 p.m. featuring Shawn Barnby. Live on stage on Saturday will be The Discographers performing rock classics. The show will begin at 8 p.m. with no cover.

n Salt & Honey Natural Creation Shop, 150 S. Main St., has recently added a new refill station. Stop in with your containers to refill items such as Epsom salt, table salts in various varieties, wheat juice powder, chia seeds, bee pollen granules, organic oils and more. There are also a number of new items in stock, including cleaning brushes, manual coffee grinders, recycled tea towels, reusable paper towels, and more. The shop is full of wonderful gift ideas for high school grads headed to college in the fall. The shop is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop in this week!

  • Cherub Capers Creations, 115 N. Main St., is an adorable shop full of wonderful home decorating items, both new and vintage. Now open for summer hours, you can stroll through and shop on Wednesdays from 4 to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Be sure to look through the selection of summer linens and decorative flags. This shop is an experience not to be missed.
  • A Taste of Hawaii, inside Station Square, has recently expanded its delicious menu and they have a brand new Hawaiian shaved ice trailer. They are open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and do a fantastic job catering events.
