On Aug. 30, 2012, at approximately 9:20 p.m. Bingham County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call requesting assistance in locating an individual that had been missing approximately three hours. Jacquelyn R. Poulson, 31, had left the residence at 330 N. 345 W. Blackfoot, searching for the family dog.
When she didn’t return, a group of neighbors and family had been looking without success. Six Bingham County Deputies along with approximately fifteen Search and Rescue responded to the area. At approximately 10:50 p.m. the search ended when three individuals plus the family dog were found in an irrigation ditch approximately 50 yards west of the residence.
Jacquelyn Poulson had apparently entered the canal after the dog when the two of them were electrocuted.
Power Company responded and shut off all power in the immediate area before rescuers could enter the water and recover the bodies.
